Bluewater final venue for Oil Check Roadshow

The final venue for Comma's Oil Check Roadshow was the Bluewater Shopping Centre in Kent, the closest roadshow to Comma's Gravesend headquarters.

The Roadshow captured the most visitors of the week, including Cllr Bronwen McGarrity, Mayor of Gravesham, who came along in her official limousine and learned not only the importance of checking your oil, but also how to do it yourself.

As well's as the mayor's visit, another highlight was a well-looked after Caterham 7 coming in for a check. All Caterhams are filled with Comma oils when they leave the manufacturer's factory in nearby Dartford, and this one only needed a bit of screenwash.

There were a couple of shocking moments, however. The whole oil check team sprung into action to push an Audi A3 which coughed and spluttered to a halt just outside the oil check point, having run out of both oil and coolant. With the young occupants having ignored all the warning lights, it sat in the check point as testament that you can't just ignore the needs of your car.

Another shock came thanks to a Mitsubishi L200 that the owner had kept topped up with oil, but who had decided that a gap in the engine bay was a sensible place to store a plastic can! With the fire hazard removed to the back of the pickup, he went on his way.

As the sun went down and National Oil Check Week came to an end, there was a clear message - check your oil once a month and if you don't know how, then ask someone who does. Too many cars across the UK are running on low oil and whether it's oil check week or not, take out the dipstick or take your car to the local garage.
