Manchester second stop for Oil Check tour

For the Tuesday of National Oil Check Week the Comma team headed to the Trafford Centre in Manchester, where they were greeted by beautiful Northern sunshine.

After a quick team photo in the sun, the crew began the task of checking oil and, as in Edinburgh the day before, they found plenty of motorists running low.

The message here wasn't just to check your oil, however, but also to make sure you get the right type of oil for your engine. A taxi driver was one of several owners of diesel-powered cars who thought you could still put "just about anything" into a diesel engine, not realising that this attitude is out of date due to the number of manufacturers that now demand vehicle-specific oil for their cars. Comma's team was on hand to explain exactly why this is the case, and let them know precisely what oil they should top up with.

Family cars, taxis and even a minibus all came along for a check, as well as getting a free screenwash refill courtesy of Comma.

More cars needed topping up than in Edinburgh, but thankfully the team found less cars running on dangerously low oil than they had North of the border. Overall, however, 1 in 3 cars checked needed its oil topping up, showing that too many people aren't checking often enough.

From there the roadshow travelled to Bristol for Thursday's event but, while it was taking a break on Wednesday, checks would continue at the numerous other oil check points across the country.
