The 2009 campaign saw oil and car care experts Comma take to the road checking motorists oil at four of the country’s biggest shopping centres, including Europe’s largest shopping centre, Bluewater in Kent.

Research carried out during the checks found that:

  • 45% of cars on the road are low on oil (equivalent of 13.9million cars)
  • 17% are dangerously low on oil
  • 27% of motorists never check their oil level
  • 47% of motorists do not check regularly enough
